Bambi

We went to Forest Lake up American Fork Canyon last week...Holy Cow that was one of the Rockiest trails we have been on in a long time. The kids kept asking "are we there yet?" and "let's just turn around and find a new trail." We finally made it and the lake was more like a giant puddle - I guess that earlier in the season there was more water in this so called "lake". Anyway the kids were pretty unimpressed...it went something like this from Hunter, "we went thru all of that just for this...I like the other trail better...Let's remember to not come on this trail again." But we found something that made it all worth while.
We saw this deer in the bushes when we stopped to let the kids throw rocks in the water. The next thing we know, the deer is approaching us...better said it was very interested in Taylor. It followed behind Taylor, who seemed to be more interested in throwing rocks in the puddle than the deer. Shelby was quite taken by our new friend, she spent the next 1/2 hour coaxing the deer to come closer. We shot some video and at one point the deer was within a couple of feet from Shelby, actually eating some grass that Shelby was holding out for it to eat. By then it was starting to get dark and Mike thought that we should get going back home, needless to say the kids DID NOT want to leave their new friend. On the way back to the truck Hunter was asking when we could come and see the deer again...maybe bring some apples or carrots for it.

I found your blog through Jen's new blog - it's in it's infancy but it is at least set up (it's really Allyson's blog). There is a link to it on my blog. That is really cool about that deer. It seems wierd it got so close to your kids. So cool that your kids got to experience that.
